Casa México - Carlos Díez Bustamante

Casa Mexico Madrid hosted Carlos Díaz de Bustamante’s art exhibition for a month.

Year: 2019

The artist's work consisted on generating a pyramid in which he would place his art pieces to exhibit. The artist requested a sound environment that should be inspired by pre-Columbian sounds, the jungle, the ocean and the desert of Mexico.

My proposal was CASA MÉXICO, a 32-minute audio loop to make the visitors travel through all the mexican landscapes not only by viewing the art pieces but also by listening them.

CASA MÉXICO encourages the audience to go around the pyramid through the automation of the audio panning. This was achieved by placing several speakers inside the pyramid, projecting the sound outward.
The soundtrack was created from the mix and collage of sounds and audios downloaded from the internet, mixed to give that wild and native effect while the listener ignores when the loop started and when it ended.
